Pornography Position Statement

Pornography is the spiritual plague of this generation.  Pornography easily becomes an addiction that has far reaching and devastating effects.  It is a tool that Satan will use to rob us of the potential God sees in us.  It is a trap he will use to damn our progress.  It will destroy our spiritual sensitivity and keep us from being able to feel and respond to the promptings of our Heavenly Father.  And once we have been effectively caught in the trap it is almost impossible to get out.  With statistics showing that 100% of children will be exposed to the filth it is terrifying as a parent. We must teach our children to stay completely away from it.  In doing this they can avoid the pain and suffering that comes to families as a result of this terrible monster, this weapon of spiritual mass destruction.

Never Too Early to Teach

The young man mentioned earnestly asked if the Apostles knew how early in life teaching and protecting against pornography and impure thoughts should start. With emphasis, he stated that in some areas even before youth graduate from   Primary is not too early.

Accepting the Chains of Pornography

These binding chains of addiction can have many forms, like pornographyalcohol, sex,  drugs, tobacco, gambling, food, work, the Internet, or virtual reality. Satan, our common  enemy, has many favorite tools he uses to rob us of our divine potential to accomplish our mission in the Lord’s kingdom. It saddens our Heavenly Father to see how willingly some of His noble sons   extend their wrists to accept the chains of devastating addictions.

Let Our Lives Be Clean

Let us join in the fervent declaration of Joshua: “Choose you this day whom ye will serve … but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Josh. 24:15). Let our hearts be pure. Let our lives be clean. Let our voices be heard. Let our   actions be felt.
Then the beetle of pornography will be halted in its deadly course. Pernicious   permissiveness will have met its match. And we, with Joshua, will safely cross   over Jordan into the promised land-Even to eternal life in the celestial kingdom of our God.
