But King Benjamin, who understood as well as any mortal what it meant to be a man of strength and courage, makes it clear that to be like a child is not to be childish. It is to be like the Savior, who prayed to His Father for strength to be able to do His will and then did it. Our natures must be changed to become as a child to gain the strength we must have to be safe in the times of moral peril.
We are safe on the rock which is the Savior when we have yielded in faith in Him, have responded to the Holy Spirit’s direction to keep the commandments long enough and faithfully enough that the power of the Atonement has changed our hearts. When we have, by that experience, become as a child in our capacity to love and obey, we are on the sure foundation.

Trusting God Brings Happiness and Leads to Personal Revelation
Lack of trust has brought sorrow to Heavenly Father’s children from before the world was created. . . Trust comes from knowing God. . . My heart is filled with gratitude for what God has revealed about Himself that we might trust Him. . . You show your trust in Him when you listen with the intent to learn and repent and then you go and do whatever He asks. If you trust God enough to listen for His message in every sermon, song, and prayer in this conference, you will find it. And if you then go and do what He would have you do, your power to trust Him will grow, and in time you will be overwhelmed with gratitude to find that He has come to trust you.

Using Agency to Control Tempers and Pride
When we with faith control our tempers and subdue our pride, the Holy Ghost gives His approval, and sacred promises and covenants become sure.

Service in Family Life
One way for you to reproduce the successes of Father Lehi is by the way you lead family prayers and family time, such as family home evenings. Give children opportunities to pray, when they can pray, for each other in the circle who need blessings. Discern quickly the beginnings of discord and recognize acts of unselfish service, especially to each other. When they pray for each other and serve each other, hearts will be softened and turned to each other and to their parents.

Patience with the Lord's Timing
"The Lord’s delays often seem long; some last a lifetime. But they are always calculated to bless. They need never be times of loneliness or sorrow or impatience. Although His time is not always our time, we can be sure that the Lord keeps His promises."

Sacrifice Brings Blessings
The greater the sacrifice, the greater the compensation they will receive from the Lord.

The Choice to Be Grateful
"Our Father in Heaven commands us to be thankful in all things (see 1 Thessalonians 5:18), and He requires that we give thanks for the blessings we receive (see D&C 46:32). We know that all of His commandments are intended to make us happy, and we also know that to break commandments leads to misery. So to be happy and to avoid misery, we must have a grateful heart. We have seen in our lives the connection between gratitude and happiness."

My Thoughts on the Life and Testimony of Henry B. Eyring
President Eyring strikes me as a man who loves
education. He was eager to learn and
even when he realized Physics wasn’t his passion he still finished his degree
before moving on to something else. The
other thing that is inspiring about President Eyring is that money is not the
most important thing to him. You can
tell from the big choices in his life that he was willing to do what the Lord
wanted him to do rather than to follow the money or prestige the world offered
him. I also admire how humble he was and
how willing he was to go to the Lord for answers. Even after he was given advice by men and
women he respected the final decision always lay with the Lord. You can tell that the Lord is his best and
most trusted confidant. It was also
interesting to note all of the contact he had early on with leaders in the
church. I didn’t know he was President
Kimball’s nephew.
Everything
about President Eyring’s testimony points back to his love and devotion to God
the Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love his tenderness and the emotion
that always comes into his voice as he bears witness of them. He has such a powerful testimony of them and
their reality. He testifies beautifully
of their love for us. He is sensitive to
spiritual things and has taken the time to grow that spirituality so. His life is a testament that he has worked
hard to foster the spirituality that emanates from him. He also has a powerful testimony of prayer
and of a personal relationship with God.
That was obvious from the experiences in his life. It makes me want to grow closer to my
Heavenly Father and to my brother, Jesus Christ.
Joy Regardless of our Conditions
“If we have faith in Jesus Christ, the hardest as well as the easiest times in life can be a blessing. In all conditions, we can choose the right with the guidance of the Spirit. We have the gospel of Jesus Christ to shape and guide our lives if we choose it.”

Refinement Through Adversity
“I cannot promise an end to your adversity in this life. I cannot assure you that your trials will seem to you to be only for a moment. One of the characteristics of trials in life is that they seem to make clocks slow down and then appear almost to stop. There are reasons for that. Knowing those reasons may not give much comfort, but it can give you a feeling of patience. Those reasons come from this one fact: in Their perfect love for you, Heavenly Father and the Savior want you fitted to be with Them to live in families forever. Only those washed perfectly clean through the Atonement of Jesus Christ can be there.”

Firm Foundation of Faith
“If the foundation of faith is not embedded in our hearts, the power to endure will crumble...
· One of the keys to an
enduring faith is to judge correctly the curing time required. That curing does
not come automatically through the passage of time, but it does take time.
Getting older does not do it alone. It is serving God and others persistently
with full heart and soul that turns testimony of truth into unbreakable
spiritual strength.”
